Stuttgart First Baptist Church will host an event to support its children’s ministry this summer.

The church’s upcoming hamburger supper fundraiser is on Wednesday, June 4, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Pastor Andrew Skinner, who leads children and discipleship programs at the church, said the event will support sending children to Camp Siloam, a well-known Christian camp in Arkansas.

“Kids who have completed third through sixth grade get to go to camp,” Skinner said. “It is a fantastic camp. Many people across the state have gone. It has been life-changing for them.”

Campers disconnect from daily distractions and build relationships with others while learning faith-filled lessons.

“The kids love it. There are no phones, iPads, or computers in front of them. It is all just focusing on God and having a great time at camp,” Skinner said.

With rising costs, the church wants to keep this opportunity available. Students attending camp will put the time, energy, and effort into the fundraiser.   

“They get the benefit of doing the work and then financial support from it,” Skinner said. “Our church provides all the supplies for the hamburger supper. The kids are going to cook, serve, and clean.”

Students will sell baked goods for extra donations. Church staff ask supporters to pre-purchase tickets or call the church office for planning purposes. Tickets are $15.

“Let them know you are planning to come so we make sure we have plenty of hamburgers for everybody,” Skinner said. “Contact us at 870-673-6952. Let them know how many tickets you need, and we will reserve them.”

People can come in and eat or take their food to go.

“You can sit down, visit with one another, and have a great time,” Skinner said. “If you are in a hurry, come in and pick up a to-go box. It will have everything but a drink.”

Weekly church events

Stuttgart First Baptist Church will continue weekly programming this summer. Children will meet on Wednesday nights from 6 to 7 p.m.

“This summer, we have a program called ‘Old School.’ We are doing all kinds of things their parents used to do when they were out for the summer, like roller skating and playing water games in the backyard,” Skinner said.

“If we are leaving the campus, we will post what we are doing,” Skinner said.

On Sunday, all age groups meet at 9 a.m. for Sunday school. The worship service is at 10:15 a.m.

“Anybody is welcome to come and join us and worship together,” Skinner said.

The church is at 2115 S. Prairie St. in Stuttgart.
