With their backs against the wall in an unrivaled atmosphere at Madison Square Garden, the Spurs stunned the Knicks, 115-111, in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on June 10.
San Antonio is three wins away from its first NBA championship since 2014, while the loss snapped a 13-game winning streak for the Knicks, who remain two wins away from their first title since 1973.
Spurs centerpiece Victor Wembanyama amassed 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks. The 22-year-old phenom joined Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson as the youngest players to ever record 30/5/5 in a Finals game.
Stephon Castle blossomed even further on the grand stage, tallying 23 points, five rebounds and five assists with a pair of clutch free throws as a souped-up Madison Square Garden roared down on him.
Veteran DeAaron Fox hit big buckets in crunch time, while Dylan Harper added 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists off the bench.
Teams down 2-1 on the road in the NBA Finals are 11-9 all-time in Game 4, including four straight victories. Of those previous 11 winners, eight have gone onto win the series.
The Spurs are 7-3 on the road this postseason.

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 32 points, five rebounds and five assists, while OG Anunoby piled up 28 points and five rebounds. Josh Hart tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Brunson is averaging 27.3 points per game this series and has turned in clutch performances in Games 1 and 2. He is averaging 10.7 points in the fourth quarter.
Karl-Anthony Towns was slowed to 11 points and eight rebounds, while Mikal Bridges was riddled with foul trouble.
The Spurs had 24 free throw attempts, while the Knicks were awarded only eight. That disparity was a hot-button topic for Knicks head coach Mike Brown in the postgame presser.
It was the Knicks’ first NBA Finals home game since 1999. The spectacle attracted the usual suspects of celebrity row and a who’s who of New York royalty, including Derek Jeter and Eli Manning. The event was headlined by President Donald Trump’s attendance, making him the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game.
All three NBA Finals games have been within five points in the final minute, marking the first time that has happened since 2015.
The previous 38 teams to go up 3-1 have gone onto win the NBA title 37 times. The only exception is the 2016 Golden State Warriors, who lost to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
