The Chiefs (4-0) outlasted the Las Vegas Raiders, 30-27, in a battle of unbeaten teams on Oct. 4. Kansas City is the last remaining unbeaten in the AFC and one of only three in the NFL.

Mahomes continues to shine in his return from a season-ending torn ACL and MCL last season. He has thrown for 1,037 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has 12 carries for 41 yards and one touchdown. Mahomes’ 68.2 QBR is the ninth-best in the NFL.

Tight end Travis Kelce remains his go-to option, hauling in 16 receptions for 246 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 15.4 yards per reception, which is 14th in the NFL.

Running back Kenneth Walker III, who won the Super Bowl MVP with the Seattle Seahawks last season, has dazzled with 87 carries for a second-best 537 yards and four touchdowns. He is averaging a league-leading 6.2 yards per carry.

Kansas City’s defensive front has been a mild form of their success. The unit has just four sacks in four games, which ranks bottom five in the NFL.

The secondary, however, has shined, allowing 225 passing yards per game, which is the fifth-fewest in the NFL.

Linebacker Nick Bolton has gobbled up a team-high 37 tackles. Cornerback Kristian Fulton has one interception, one pass deflection and seven tackles.

Among a handful of inactives and injured reserve pieces are receivers Rashee Rice (hamstring) and Tyquan Thornton (fractured ankle). Offensive tackle Josh Simmons (lower back) will also miss today’s game.

The Chiefs have dropped the last two encounters but are 7-3 against the Chargers in their last 10 meetings overall.

The Chargers (0-5) are in shambles, and the seat could be warming for head coach Jim Harbaugh and his entire coaching staff. Los Angeles lost 23-17 to the Denver Broncos on Oct. 11 after they were outscored 13-0 in the fourth quarter.

Franchise quarterback Justin Herbert has been bombarded with questions concerning Los Angeles’ inept offense. He compiled just 121 yards passing in the latest loss and had a costly fumble and interception in the final quarter.

On the campaign, Herbert has thrown for 937 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions. His 26.8 QBR is 30th in the NFL and he has been sacked 17 times, which is the second-most in the league.

Second-year running back Omarion Hampton has tallied 73 carries for 271 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 3.7 yards per carry.

The Chargers will be without second-year receiver Tre’ Harris. He leads Los Angeles with 15 receptions for 225 yards, averaging 15 yards per reception.

Key cog Ladd McConkey is back after sitting out the previous game with a foot injury. He has 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown, averaging 15.3 yards per reception.

Linebacker Daiyan Henley has a team-high 32 tackles with one forced fumble. Safety Genesis Smith has two interceptions, four pass deflections and 13 total tackles.
