A St. James Parish Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday, accused of indecent behavior with a juvenile, the Louisiana Attorney General’s office said.
Tykeim Simoneaux, 23, of Gramercy, was booked into the St. James Parish jail on the above charge, as well as counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, malfeasance in office by tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice.
Simoneaux joined the Sheriff’s Office in November; his job with the sheriff’s office was terminated Thursday.
The sheriff’s office was tipped off about Simoneaux by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Attorney General’s office said in a news release.
“I’d like to thank Sheriff Claude J. Louis Jr. for his swift assistance in the joint investigation,” Attorney General Liz Murrill said in the statement.
“The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office holds its employees to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off duty,” Louis said. “Protecting our children is a priority of the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, and no one is above the law.”
