MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — In an effort to cut down on speeding, police said school zone safety cameras were turned on Monday.
The cameras are installed near Forest Avenue Elementary School, Gaudet Middle School and Saint George’s School and will be running while school is in session.

Drivers who are caught speeding will receive warnings in the mail for a month until ticketing enforcement officially begins Nov. 26.
Police said this is part of a larger effort to “get motorists to consider their behaviors.”
