WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — An Upper Valley nonprofit organization, which assists people with special needs and their families, earned a 2025 Spirit of ADA Award from the Vermont Governor’s Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities.

The Special Needs Support Center, also known as SNSC, was one of three organizations to receive the award this year.
“This recognition is a reflection of the dedication of our staff, board, and partners who work every day to make the Upper Valley a more inclusive place,” SNSC Executive Director Kendra LaRoche said in a news release from the committee. “We must continue building workplaces and neighborhoods where people of all abilities are welcomed, valued, and celebrated.”
Samantha Davidson Green, the director of another White River Junction nonprofit, Junction Arts & Media, nominated SNSC for the award, according to the release.
Award winners must show that they accommodate people with disabilities in the workplace, showcase “equal accessibility” for people applying for jobs in terms of the application and interview process and show “support for employing a person(s) with a disability as an overall employment strategy,” among other criteria, according to the release.
Sonnax in Bellows Falls, Vt., and Garden Path Elder Living/Bradley House in Brattleboro, Vt., also earned awards this year.
