Spartans’ Ogden pitches no-hitter against Ohio County

South Warren senior pitcher Layla Ogden fired a five-inning no-hitter as the visiting Spartans rolled to a 13-0 softball win against Ohio County on Tuesday.
Ogden, a Western Kentucky signee, allowed no runs off no hits and one walk while striking out 12 batters to earn the complete-game win. At the plate, Ogden drove in two runs.
Senior McLaine Hudson, a Florida State signee, hit for the cycle in the win. She finished the day 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double and two RBIs. She also scored four runs and stole a base.
Parker Willoughby was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Keegan Pruitt was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, Hadley Borders added a triple and three RBIs, and Kinleigh Russell tallied an RBI for the Spartans.
South Warren (4-0) is at McCracken County on Thursday.
Greenwood 12, Nelson County 0
Macie Murray went 4-for-4 with a solo home run to lead visiting Greenwood to 12-0 win five innings against Nelson County on Tuesday.
Cali Huff added a two-run homer for the Lady Gators, who tallied 14 hits in the win.
Greenwood pitchers Anna Rose Martin and Raelie Potter combined on the three-hit shutout.
Greenwood (3-1) faces Warren County (Tennessee) and Shoals Christian (Alabama) in separate games Thursday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Cumberland County 13, Warren East 2
Visiting Cumberland County topped Warren East 13-2 in five innings on Tuesday.
Jordan Brooks went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Raiders in the loss. Tristen Lindsey added a triple and two RBIs, and Autumn Brooks had a double.
Warren East (3-1) stays home to face Hart County on Thursday.
Franklin-Simpson 10, Russellville 0
Hester Blanckenberg fired six scoreless innings as homestanding Franklin-Simpson dealt a 10-0 loss in six innings to District 13 rival Russellville on Tuesday.
Blanckenberg allowed no runs off six hits and a walk while striking out five to pick up the complete-game victory.
Kloie Smith led the Lady Cats at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Lilly Ferguson was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Annsleigh Holland was 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice, and Presli West also went 2-for-4. Addison Shelton chipped in with a double and an RBI, and Kyleigh Scott also drove in a run.
Franklin-Simpson (4-2 overall, 1-0 District 13) is at Glasgow on Thursday.
Russellville (4-1, 0-1 District 13) hosts Glasgow on Friday.
Glasgow 12, Monroe County 1
Visiting Glasgow dispatched Monroe County 12-1 in five innings on Tuesday.
Paige De Haas led the Lady Scotties with two RBIs. Jakylie Green drove in a run and scored three times, while Gracie Walker, Ayvah Maxey, Kinley Stephens and Reece England each notched an RBI in the win.
Maxey, an eighth-grader, pitched all five innings for the win. She allowed just an unearned run off two hits and two walks while striking out seven.
Glasgow (2-2) hosts Franklin-Simpson on Thursday.
Logan County 14, TCC 3
Haley Henson homered twice and drove in five runs to spark host Logan County to a 14-3 win in five innings against District 13 foe Todd County Central on Tuesday.
Henson was 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs for the Lady Cougars. Alissa Reding went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored, and Caris Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice. Addison Holloway and Kallie Taylor each drove in a run in the win.
Anne Owen started in the circle and earned the win after allowing three runs (one earned) over 5 1/3 innings. She struck out one.
Logan County (1-1, 1-0 District 13) hosts Butler County on Thursday.
Baseball
Franklin-Simpson 5, Barren County 2
Nash Bilyeu collected three hits to pace visiting Franklin-Simpson to a 5-2 win against Barren County on Tuesday.
Bilyeu was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Wildcats. Kolton Turner added a double and two RBIs, Brady Delk and Liam Heinze each drove in a run, and Owen Lockley had a double in the win.
Easton Kelley fired a complete game to earn the win, allowing two runs (one earned) off six hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out four.
Franklin-Simpson (3-1) was set to visit Greenwood on Wednesday.
Jaxon Vincent went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the host Trojans. Colten Wilson added an RBI.
Barren County (1-3) visits Grayson County on Thursday.
Glasgow 6, Metcalfe County 5
Host Glasgow won its second straight extra-inning game Tuesday, outlasting Metcalfe County for a 6-5 victory in 14 innings at Sam Royse Field.
Peyton Lemily led the Scotties at the plate with a 3-for-6 day. Thomas Glass went 2-for-7 with two RBIs, JP Pitcock was 2-for-5, Huston Haynes went 2-for-6 and scored two runs, Hudson Gumm was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases, and Carter Hodges went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Garett Shields earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. He didn’t allow a hit or walk and struck out one.
Glasgow (3-1) was slated to visit Warren Central on Wednesday.
Edmonson County 13, Russellville 3
Host Edmonson County took down Russellville 13-3 in five innings on Tuesday.
Tyson Meredith drove in two runs to spark the Wildcats’ lineup. Chase Bullock, Connor Self and Elliott Stice each added an RBI in the win.
Braxton Green started and worked 4 1/3 innings for the win, allowing three runs off no hits and four walks while striking out seven. Green combined with relievers Drew Pierce and Stice on a no-hitter.
Edmonson County (4-2) faces Monroe County on Thursday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
Russellville (1-2) ist at Foundation Christian Academy on Friday.
ACS 8, Logan County 4
Allen County-Scottsville stayed unbeaten with an 8-4 win against host Logan County on Tuesday.
Keagan Towe went 2-for-4 with an RBI to pace the Patriots at the plate. Towe also fired a complete game to earn the win, allowing four runs (one earned) off six hits and two walks while fanning eight over seven innings.
Noah Towe added a double and an RBI, and Edy Chavez, Parker Meador, Spencer Calvert and Foster Berry each drove in a run in the win.
ACS (4-0) takes on Warren East on Saturday at Hart County.
Drew McLellan went 3-for-3 with a double to pace the host Cougars. Lyndon Wilson hit a home run and drove in two runs, and Jonas Hayes and Mason Hancock each tallied an RBI.
Logan County (1-4) is at Glasgow on Friday.
Track and field
Russell County All-Comers
Glasgow swept the competition at Tuesday’s Russell County All-Comers meet.
The Lady Scotties won the six-team girls’ meet with 171 points, with Southwestern taking second with 90 points. Glasgow took the boys’ team title with 141 points, with Somerset (120) taking second in the six-team field.
In girls’ competition, Glasgow’s Caralee Gentry won both the 100-meter hurdles (18.73 seconds) and 300 hurdles (54.46). The Lady Scotties also got individual wins from Taylor Wilson in the 100-meter dash (13.02), Danica Stephens in the 400 (1:05.21), Aniston Young in the 200 (28.09), Paeton Taylor in the shot put (31 feet, 10 inches), Aaliyah Haskins in the discus (86-10), Olivia Wood in the long jump (16-02) and Anne Rhodes Pike in the high jump (4-00).
Glasgow’s quartet of Taylor, A’Zariah Miller, Jakyrie Hayes and Jayla Craine also took first in the girls’ 400 relay (56.00).
The Scotties’ Jerrick Martin claimed wins in both the boys’ 100 (11.21) and 200 (22.58). Glasgow also got individual wins from Jayden Estes in the 400 (52.21), Breylin Saltsman in the 300 hurdles (48.01) and Jamari Stockton in the high jump (5-06).
Glasgow’s Lucas Kuykendall, Ayden Frye, Kyle Sledge and Levi Mann won the 800 relay (1:41.67), while the quartet of Cayden Ward, Jeremiah Moore, Keyshawn Austin and Estes took first in the 1,600 relay (3:47.16).
