Some retailers adding fees on items returned through store websites

FARGO — If you plan on sending back a holiday gift by mail, listen up!

Some large retailers are moving on from fee-free returns on their store websites.

Macy’s is charging a shipping fee of about $10, If you are not a ‘Stars’ rewards members

TJ Maxx and Marshall will charge about $12.

Meanwhile, JC Penny, American Eagle Outfitters, and J-Crew have return fees of about four to eight dollars.

West Acres Mall shoppers said they are surprised by the change.

“I would have to make sure my kids really wanted it before I bought it,” said shopper Amanda Goll.

Some retailers will deduct the charge from your store credit on the return item.

Customers can also avoid the fees by making returns in person.
