BUNN, N.C. (WNCN) — Shots have been fired at deputies Monday night during a standoff with a man barricaded in a Franklin County home for several hours, officials said.

The incident is underway at a home along Twin Creek Drive, just north of Bunn, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Ken Pike.

Pike said the call came in just before 5:30 p.m. regarding a person with a gun barricaded in a home off N.C. 39.

Deputies said someone near the home initially heard gunfire inside the house.

Just after 8:50 p.m., Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White said the barricaded man “has fired shots at our deputies” and said around 10:45 p.m. that he was not aware of any injuries.

The standoff is still underway, and deputies are limiting traffic into the area, which includes three small streets off Twin Creek Drive.

Just before 11 p.m., a drone was launched in the area and was seen flying near the home.

White instructed people to avoid the area. Pike said an investigation into the matter is continuing.
