Two women were arrested this week after a man was shot inside his car near Greenberry on Saturday, Benton County Sheriff’s officials said.
Julia Dell Yepez and Alexa Montano Corral, both 20, face a range of felony allegations.
Yepez is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping and unlawful use of a weapon, while Corral faces allegations of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit menacing, among other allegations, court records show.
The women allegedly used a dating app to lure the man to an area near Highway 99 West and Lakeside Drive in order to steal from him. Police allege Yepez shot the man around 5:30 a.m., according to court records and a statement from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Yepez and Corral were spotted fleeing the scene, and deputies found the injured man in a car when they arrived, officials said.
Emergency responders drove the victim to a hospital, and he is expected to survive, officials said.
Sheriff’s detectives found and arrested Yepez in Salem on Tuesday, officials said, and jail booking records show that Corral was arrested on Thursday.
Yepez pleaded not guilty to all the charges against her when she arraigned on Wednesday. Corral is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, court records show.
Yepez is also facing charges of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon for allegedly hitting a man with a beer bottle during a domestic violence incident in January, court records show. Corral has been charged with fleeing a police officer during an attempted traffic stop on April 4.
The lawyer representing Yepez in her most recent case couldn’t be reached for comment. Corral has not yet been assigned a lawyer.
