SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. (WNCN) — The Scotland Neck Police Department is being investigated by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for their handling of a murder case, state officials said Friday.
According to the NCSBI, the investigation is connected to the handling of the murder of Latoya Lawrence.
NCSBI agents said they were asked to conduct the investigation by Seventh Prosecutorial District Attorney Kim Scott, who covers Halifax County, and Eighth Prosecutorial District Attorney Jeffrey Marsigli, who covers Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson counties.
The investigation remains ongoing. No further information has been provided by the NCSBI as of Friday.
