School district takes disciplinary action on Jacksonville High employee as police investigate misconduct report

Jacksonville North Pulaski School District officials are taking disciplinary action against a Jacksonville High School employee pending a police investigation of misconduct between the employee and a former student, officials said Wednesday.

District leaders met Tuesday with detectives from the Jacksonville Police Department and determined there was enough information to “move forward with disciplinary proceedings,” according to a Wednesday release sent to families in the district.

The employee, whose identity has not yet been released, is prohibited from contacting students or setting foot on any campus in the district, the release says.

Police received the report of misconduct on June 9, but they have not yet determined the time frame of the incident or released details about the nature of the allegation, the release says.

District officials notified families of the investigation last week. While an initial letter was only sent to Jacksonville High School families, the district has since confirmed the employee also filled in at Jacksonville Middle School this spring and notified middle school families, according to the release.

Officials asked current and former Jacksonville students with concerns about their interaction with the employee to contact the Police Department. The release says that this request specifically applies to high school band students from 2022 to the present, recent students on the high school media team and middle school band students who participated from March to May of this year.
