Scattered Storm Chances Through the Weekend

Light showers are expected for the first half of the day in eastern Nebraska. Then we turn our attention to scattered storms during the afternoon, which could have an impact on Husker Baseball.

Above is the latest run of StormCast, showing morning showers wrapping up shortly before the lunch hour. Scattered storm chances take over for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Highs across the state range from the mid-70s to mid-80s today. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are anticipated in eastern Nebraska, which will try to keep us cooler.

Rain showers will try to transition over to isolated storm chances this afternoon in Lincoln.

Lows tonight will be just warmer than average, with temperatures falling to the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms arrives very early on Saturday morning alongside overcast skies.

While the severe threat is low on Friday, chances for strong to severe storms increase in central and western Nebraska on Saturday. A Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather is in place for western Nebraska and portions of the panhandle.

An isolated tornado, large hail, and damaging winds could be possible in the strongest storms we see on Saturday evening, following a fairly sunny afternoon.

The threat for severe weather will shift east on Sunday with a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe weather in place for the eastern half of the state. Large hail and damaging winds would be the main concerns in a few isolated strong-to-severe storms.

Temperatures will slowly warm through the end of the month, with daily chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be fairly consistent through the first week of June, reaching the lower and middle 80s.
