Scattered Showers, Storms on Sunday

Scattered showers and an occasional thunderstorm remain in the forecast through Sunday afternoon. We are not expecting constant rain throughout the day, though chances for an isolated shower or storm to be in your area exist until around dinner time.

Above is the latest run of StormCast, showing scattered showers and an occasional storm in eastern Nebraska. Rainfall totals will be less than a tenth of an inch for most of us, but locally higher amounts are possible for those who see a direct hit from a storm.

It will be a mild start to our Sunday with overnight lower falling to the middle and upper 60s in eastern Nebraska.

Overcast skies will arrive throughout the overnight hours in Lincoln, and small chances for rain will be possible late Saturday and shortly after sunrise on Sunday.

We take a brief hiatus from the upper 80s and 90s in the eastern half of the state on Sunday. It will be a different story out west, with temperatures flirting with the triple digits in the panhandle.

We may see a few peaks of sun in the Capital City in between an isolated shower or thunderstorm throughout the day on Sunday.

  • Severe Weather Threat – June 7, 2026

  • Severe Weather Threat – June 8, 2026

While we may see a few thunderstorms in eastern Nebraska, the bulk of the severe weather threat for the next couple of days remains out to the west.

Temperatures will rocket into the 90s by the middle of the work week, with humidity driving heat indices to the upper 90s and lower triple digits. We have a couple of brief chances for precipitation early in the week, with another round possible going into next weekend.
