A jury convicted Isaac Apodaca of first-degree murder after prosecutors said he manipulated his girlfriend to kill 21-year-old Grace Jennings with a sword.
SANTA FE, N.M. – A jury convicted Isaac Apodaca of first-degree murder after prosecutors said he manipulated his girlfriend to kill 21-year-old Grace Jennings with a sword.
The verdict came after a six-day trial. The jury did not take long to find Apodaca guilty.
Prosecutors called 16 witnesses during the trial. The key witness was Apodaca’s ex-girlfriend, Kiara McCulley.
McCulley testified that she was romantically involved with both Apodaca and Jennings. She also testified that she and Apodaca agreed to kill Jennings.
McCulley already took a plea deal in the case. She will spend 30 years in prison.
A judge will sentence Apodaca next month. He could face life in prison.
