Looking to expand access to homes for foster children, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a proclamation Tuesday pledging further collaboration with the federal government on child welfare.
The proclamation — short on details — calls on Arkansas and the Administration for Children and Families, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to “enter into a new Program Improvement Plan (PIP),” that will promote innovation, collaboration, safety, permanency and ensure “every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, stable, and loving home.”
“This proclamation reflects a shared vision for the future of child welfare — one that builds on progress to date, embraces bold and thoughtful innovation, and remains unwavering in its commitment to children, youth, and families,” according to the proclamation.
