Celebrating the 20thanniversary of the punt block that brought the city together
Tonight’s broadcast will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Steve Gleason’s blocked punt in the Saints’ first game back at the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina. The hurricane brought devastation to the area and killed over 1,800 people. The Superdome itself was even used as a shelter for thousands left stranded.
Gleason’s blocked punt helped unify the city and give fans something to cheer for. Gleason, who has become an ALS advocate since his diagnosis in 2011, will be in attendance for tonight’s game.
