Rickey A. Hastings
Grantham, NH – Rickey A. Hastings, 74, of Grantham, NH, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH surrounded by his family.
A lifelong resident of Grantham, Rick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
Rick shared 54 years of marriage, love, and adventure with his beloved wife, Wanda L. (Jones) Hastings.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda; his three sons and their families: Jeffrey Hastings and his wife Jennifer of Grantham, NH, and their daughter, Emily Timm and her husband Mykael of Enfield, NH; Ross Hastings and his wife Janette of Grantham, NH; and Wesley Hastings and his wife Jaime, along with their children, Samuel, Jack, and Faye of Grantham, NH. He is also survived by his mother, Janis H. (Sherman) Hastings of Newport, NH; his brother, Brian Hastings of Grantham, NH; his sister, Sandra Hastings of Grantham, NH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Ronald A. Hastings.
Rick dedicated much of his career to the construction industry. He worked for Daniels Construction in Ascutney, VT, and later for CCB Construction Services in Westbrook, ME, where he served as a respected site supervisor for many years. Eventually, he fulfilled his dream of business ownership by founding and operating Black Horse Construction, earning a reputation for quality workmanship, integrity, and dependability.
Outside of work, Rick found his greatest happiness in spending time with family and enjoying the outdoors. He and Wanda traveled extensively throughout the United States, creating cherished memories along the way. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and exploring the countryside on side-by-side adventures. Whether operating his tractor, harvesting wood from his land to provide firewood for family and friends, or running his sawmill to cut timbers and lumber, Rick took pride in hard work and self-sufficiency. Some of his most treasured moments were spent working alongside his sons on projects, passing along not only his skills and knowledge but also his strong values and love of family.
Rick will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his generosity, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, and the many lives he touched.
A private family burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Rick’s life on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Croydon Fire House.
