Richard Hull
Cornish, NH – Richard “Dick” Hull of Cornish, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 7, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of the home he loved so deeply. He was 82 years old and just days shy of his 83rd birthday.
Dick was born on March 13, 1943, in Claremont, New Hampshire, the youngest of three sons born to Dorothy (Little) Hull and Herbert Hull. He grew up in Claremont, where he developed the strong work ethic, quiet kindness, and steady character that would define him throughout his life.
On July 15, 1967, Dick married the love of his life, Pierrette “Penny” (Routhier) Hull. Together they shared 58 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, and countless memories with family and friends. Whether they were line dancing together or simply enjoying time at home, Penny was always by his side.
Dick graduated from Stevens High School with the Class of 1962 and went on to attend Bryant College and the New Hampshire Technical Vocational College, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. His career began as a draftsman with Cone-Blanchard Company. Over the years, he worked with Twin State Electric, Coughlin Electric, and Eaton Cutler-Hammer as an Electrical Sales Engineer, where his knowledge, dedication, and friendly nature earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
Dick also proudly served his country in the New Hampshire National Guard for seven years during the mid to late 1960s. In 1971, he answered another call to service when he joined the Claremont Fire Department’s Ladder Company. He served the community he loved for 25 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant in 1978 before retiring in 1996. Being part of the department was something he took great pride in.
Those who knew Dick knew he had a gift for fixing just about anything. A true “jack of all trades,” he was often the person family turned to when something needed repairing. From restoring his Triumph Spitfire in his younger years to building intricate model airplanes he loved to fly, Dick found joy in working with his hands. He was also an enthusiastic model train collector and enjoyed spending time in his workshop doing woodworking projects.
Music was another lifelong passion. Dick played the organ and keyboard and had an impressive collection of reel-to-reel tapes and tape decks. His music room was something special, filled with equipment, recordings, and the sounds of music he loved. While he appreciated many styles, country music was always his favorite.
Dick enjoyed being active and making memories with the people he loved. As a young man, he worked as a ski patrolman and remained an avid skier. He and Penny spent many happy evenings line dancing with friends. Summers often meant family camping trips in Maine, a tradition that brought everyone together and created lasting memories year after year.
Later in life, some of Dick’s greatest happiness came from his role as a grandfather. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s school events and activities. He was incredibly proud of them and loved sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen.
Dick was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Kimberly (Hull) Giordano; his brothers, Harman Hull and Robert Hull; and his parents, Dorothy and Herbert Hull.
He leaves behind the family he cherished so deeply: his loving wife, Pierrette “Penny” Hull of Cornish, NH; his daughter Lori (Hull) Eagan and her husband Tom Eagan Jr. of Claremont, NH; and their children Nicholas Eagan of Biddeford, ME and his partner Emma, Matthew Eagan of Claremont, NH and his girlfriend Sophia, and Lilyanna Eagan of Claremont, NH.
He is also survived by Kimberly’s children, Michael Giordano of Tampa, FL, and Jack Giordano of San Diego, CA, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will remember him with love.
Calling hours for Dick will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH. A service of remembrance will follow at 4:00 p.m., with a reception afterward at the Claremont Senior Center, 5 Acer Heights Road, Claremont, NH.
