NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Providence Fire Department said the Rhode Island Bomb Squad was called to assist after a grenade was found inside a North Providence home on Monday.
According to the department, a woman was cleaning out her house on Urban Avenue when she discovered a hand grenade.
The police and fire departments responded to the home and contacted the Rhode Island Bomb Squad for assistance.
Officials said the bomb squad “determined no explosives were present in the grenade” and disposed of the device.
The North Providence Fire Department said that anyone who comes across a grenade or any other type of ordinance should “always evacuate the area and contact local authorities to handle the issue.”
