CASPER, Wyo. — Casper Fire-EMS officials say an unattended pan on a heated stove led to a brief fire at an apartment complex near downtown Casper on Monday afternoon.
Firefighter Taylor Herron told Oil City News the resident was able to extinguish the fire before A Platoon arrived around 5:40 p.m. Herron explained that crews use such opportunities as training exercises, which is why the ladder truck was deployed for rooftop access.
Ultimately, the resident was not displaced, and fans were set up to help clear the smoke.
Casper Fire-EMS says that unattended cooking is the most common cause of residential fires.
