EVANSTON, Ill. (WISH) — No. 15 Purdue beat Northwestern on the road, 70-66.
Purdue was trailing by one with less than 50 seconds left, but C.J. Cox knocked down a corner three to put the Boilermakers ahead, and they never looked back.
Cox led the Boilermakers with 27 points, a career-high for the sophomore guard.
Purdue trailed by as many as 11 and was down by nine at halftime, but was able to find a way to get the win.
The Boilermakers had lost two games in a row before the victory on Wednesday night.
Trey Kaufman-Renn (11 points) and Fletcher Loyer (10 points) were the other Purdue players in double figures. Braden Smith had seven points and nine assists. He shot 1-5 from the field.
Purdue snapped a two game losing streak on the road against Northwestern, having lost to the Wildcats in the 2022-23 season and the 2023-24 season at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Next up for the Boilermakers is Senior Night against Wisconsin on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Mackey Arena.
