Monroe 2, Stanwood 1
MONROE — The Bearcats (9-4-2 overall, 8-2-1 league) made it a Senior Night to remember, handing first-place Stanwood (12-2-1, 9-1-1) its first league loss of the season to preserve the chance of a shared league title. Monroe sophomore Finley Greear got things started by forcing a deflection from the keeper on a cross attempt into the box 13 minutes into the match. That deflection was then put away on a rebound by senior Addison Williams. Early in the second half, Greear called her own number, winning a 1-on-1 before launching a 20-yard shot over the keeper to double the lead. Stanwood’s Georgia Lenz would find freshman Harlow Heryford for a late Spartans goal, but Monroe took the win at home.
