Portions of northeast Arkansas can expect potentially severe storms Friday and Saturday as rain sweeps across the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Much of the state is under a marginal risk, level one out of five, of scattered severe storms Friday afternoon into early Saturday morning, according to the weather service. A portion of northeast Arkansas near Mountain Home is at slight risk, a level two out of five.

Storm risks for much of the state include a low chance of damaging winds, with strong gusts possible, the weather service said. Affected areas include Little Rock, Conway, Russellville, Hot Springs, Arkadelphia, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Batesville and Jonesboro.

A small portion of northeast Arkansas near Mountain Home is at a low risk of tornadoes, the weather service said.

No large hail threats are predicted, according to the weather service.

A large part of the state remains under a heat advisory through Friday evening, with high temperatures in the mid 90s to 100 degrees. Heat index values will range between 105 and 110 degrees, the weather service said.

Affected areas include Little Rock, Fayetteville, Russellville, Hots Springs, Texarkana, El Dorado, Monticello and Pine Bluff.

A small area of far west Arkansas near Fort Smith is under an extreme heat warning through Friday evening, the weather service said.

Arkansas should see higher temperatures Friday before a cold front brings weekend temperatures down, with highs in the mid 80s and low 90s across the state Saturday and Sunday, the weather service said.
