CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The sidewalks of the Capitol City will soon be transformed into one, big putt-putt golf course.
The Downtown Open Presented by Hendrickson & Long, PLLC, tees off at 4 p.m. today (Thursday, May 29), in front of the Hendrickson & Long office located at 214 Capitol Street, with putt-putt holes lining the sidewalks as part of FestivALL.
The pop-up course is a production of the Charleston Area Alliance and there will be 27 holes throughout the downtown area.
The Charleston Area Alliance press release said the miniature golf course is “our signature pop-up putt-putt golf course that transforms the sidewalks of downtown Charleston into a vibrant showcase of creativity, community and fun. The temporary course, set up along the sidewalks of downtown Charleston has a variety of holes sponsored and customized by local businesses. The result is a unique, one-of-a-kind miniature golf course that allows people to explore our downtown, showcases regional companies and small businesses, and provides free entertainment to friends and families.”
The 2025 Downtown Open will last until June 22 and the holes will be customized for the various businesses who are sponsoring the event.

There will be awards for the Best Representation of Business, Most Fun to Play and Best Overall as voted on by a panel of judges and the winners will be posted on the Charleston Area Alliance Facebook page on June 20. The winners will be notified in advance so they can be photographed with their winning Downtown Open hole. The Charleston Area Alliance press statement said Hendrickson & Long, PLLC is the title sponsor; while the scorecard sponsor is West Virginia International Yeager Airport; the golf ball sponsor is GAI Consultants, Inc.; the putter sponsor is West Virginia American Water and the supporting sponsor for the event is CAMC/Vandalia Women and Children’s Hospital.
