ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque police are investigating a deadly shooting outside the Oasis event center on the city’s West Side as a “justifiable homicide.”

The shooting happened sometime before 2 a.m., outside the event center at 3700 Ellison Drive NW. Police found a man with gunshot wounds that later resulted in his death.

An investigation found 20-year-old Le Roy Hernandez entered the back seat of a vehicle as it drove off from a confrontation. Hernandez allegedly had an AK pistol and was shot by a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle.

After consulting with the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office, APD detectives are investigating the shooting as “a possible justifiable homicide.”

Police asked anyone with photos or videos that could help detectives to submit that evidence here.
