Police identify man, woman killed in double shooting in Hartford

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Hartford early Sunday morning involving the death of a man and woman.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Franklin Avenue around 5:10 a.m. Sunday on a citizen report of a shooting, according to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department.

Officers located a woman, identified as 33-year-old Cynthia Jiminez-Pacheco, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a man, identified as 33-year-old Joel Martinez, suffering from a gunshot wound in the rear stairwell of the building, Boisvert said.

Jiminez-Pacheco was transported to Hartford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to Boisvert. Martinez was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police told multiple media outlets that the two were believed to be in a domestic relationship and that there is no danger to the public at this time.

The investigation, being conducted by the Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions, is ongoing.
