THE LATEST: West Des Moines police have arrested a man wanted on attempted murder and weapons charges following a late-night shooting earlier this week.Andrew Clark was taken into custody around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday in Des Moines, police said. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Polk County Jail.Clark had been wanted on charges of attempted murder of a peace officer, a Class B felony, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony. The charges stem from a shooting that occurred late at night on Monday.In the days following the shooting, West Des Moines investigators worked to locate Clark with assistance from the Des Moines Police Department, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Public Safety. West Des Moines police have arrested a man wanted on attempted murder and weapons charges following a late-night shooting earlier this week.

Andrew Clark was taken into custody around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday in Des Moines, police said. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Polk County Jail.

Police say they were called at around 11:54 p.m. Monday night for a report of a man armed with a gun in the 1100 block of Vine Street. The suspect fired his weapon when they arrived, according to police. An officer fired back and the suspect fled on foot.

“It was kind of just like someone was lighting off fireworks, really is what I thought. I thought, God, is someone doing fireworks again?” Konen said.

Konen learned this morning that it was not fireworks. “This is West Des Moines. like, I’m so surprised there’s a shooting over here.”
