Play exploring impact of gendered clothing debuts at South Burlington Public Library

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Ladies, how do you feel about the clothes in your closet?

How do you choose what to buy and why? It’s a question playwright Carole Vasta Folley explores in her new show, “Control Top”.

Selected by the Vermont Art Council as the “people’s choice” creation grant, “Control Top” is a play about the impact of gendered clothing on women.

Full of true stories and laughs that will pull at your heartstrings, the play debuted Friday night in the South Burlington Public Library’s auditorium.

“Anybody that comes to see will see these mini-portrayals of what we have had to go through over the decades as women, as middle-aged women, as older women, and what it’s like to be in a society that’s increasingly taking away our rights,” said cast member Linda McGuinnis.

Tickets are $20, and 15% of sales are donated to the Safety Team, a trauma recovery program that teaches self-defense and holds workshops for survivors of sexual violence. To see showtimes, visit their website.
