INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person of interest was in custody after two people were shot, one fatally, on the west side early Monday morning.

The incident took place around 12:55 a.m. Monday in the 3000 block of Bayside Drive at the Mariners Village Apartments near the I-465/I-74 interchange.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the scene and found victims, a man and a woman, suffering gunshot wounds.

Medics rushed the victims to a hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately, the man later died.

A person of interest was in custody, IMPD confirmed, but their role in the shooting was unclear.
