One Last Windy Day Before Widespread Frost Wednesday

This afternoon, sunny skies will be accompanied by gusty northwest winds, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph. The strong winds will gradually subside this evening, setting the stage for a cold and frosty start to the day on both Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Temperatures are expected to only reach the low to mid 60s across much of the state, offering a cool but seasonable windy afternoon.

The peak of the winds will occur this morning and afternoon. These winds will shift east and weaken through the evening hours. Light winds and clear skies = Frost and cold temperatures for tonight.

A FROST ADVISORY is in place for parts of central Nebraska starting tonight and ending Wednesday morning. Temperatures will dip into the low to mid 30s with calm winds, which will cause frost formation. Sensitive outdoor vegetation may be killed if left uncovered.

Tonight, clear skies and calm winds will make for a BRISK and CHILLY night across the state.

Wednesday morning, expect temperatures in the low to mid 30s under clear skies and calm winds. A cold start Wednesday, but warming up later Wednesday afternoon.

winds will ease this evening and remain calm through Thursday, setting the stage for cold and frosty mornings, especially on Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight lows will dip into the low to mid 30s, with daytime highs reaching the low to mid 60s. A few light rain showers may develop Friday, particularly in areas near the Nebraska–Kansas border. However, the best chance for more widespread rain and storms arrives Sunday night into Monday night, as a more organized weather system moves through the region. This system will usher in even cooler air, with highs dropping into the 50s late next week.
