On the Border in Conway will close after Friday, May 15. 

Manager Cindy Burgara confirmed that the Tex-Mex chain restaurant will be open its regular hours on Thursday and Friday before shutting down. She could not confirm other information at this time, so it is unclear if another restaurant will be coming to that building. 

In March 2025, On the Border filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed the doors of over 70 locations, including one earlier that year in Sherwood. 

Earlier this month, Pappas Restaurants announced it was the winning bidder during an auction of On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, according to a press release.

This acquisition is being finalized now and will bring together the two Texas-based restaurant brands. Pappas Restaurants team plans to apply its commitment to quality and hospitality to “strengthen and modernize On The Border locations,” according to a May 7 press release.
