LEWISTON – Laurette Y. Poulin, 89, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. Mary’s D’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Lewiston, on Aug. 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Paul Emile and Bella (Tremblay) Poulin. She had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She was educated in Lewiston schools and was a graduate of St. Dominic’s High School with the class of 1955.

Laurette began her teaching career at St. Peter’s Elementary School teaching the Second Grade for the next 47 years. She taught many students throughout the years and whenever she saw someone, they would acknowledge her as Miss Poulin which would always put a great big smile on her face.

In her spare time, Laurette loved to knit sweaters, mittens, blankets, hats and especially Christmas stockings for all the children in her family. She loved traveling to Chicoutimi, PQ, Canada to visit relatives, dining out with family and friends and going to local high school hockey games. Most of all Laurette enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be missed dearly by many.

She is survived by her special cousins Pauline Lagasse and her husband Reginald of Lewiston, Amie Morris of Lewiston, Sarah Gauthier of Louisiana, Diane Nelson and her husband Steven of Auburn, Amanda Nelson of Denver, Colorado, Steve Nelson of Hartford and Nicole Nelson of Minot, Sue Rosenbaum and her husband Robert of Florida, Robert Tremblay of Auburn, Marc Tremblay of Auburn, Koreen Plourde and her husband Tim of Lewiston, Craig Gelinas of Sabattus and Kayla Gelinas-Allen of Lisbon, Jeannine Cloutier of Lewiston.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her close aunts, Laura Tremblay, Jeanne Tremblay and recently her Godchild Linda Gelinas.

A funeral mass honoring Laurette’s life will be celebrated will be on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church. Committal Services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 4-8 p.m., at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
