Dolores “Del” C. Brooks
LEWISTON – On Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, Dolores “Del” C. Brooks went to be with the love of her life, Francis “Frank” Brooks.
She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Dominique and Annette (Turmel) Charpentier and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
She was educated in Lewiston schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School Class of 1949.
On June 28, 1952 she married Francis N. Brooks. He died on April 24, 2013. They had been married for 60 years. She worked various jobs including waitressing at local restaurants, L&A Laundry and retired from L&A United Grocers in 1974 to become a homemaker.
Del enjoyed knitting, doing jigsaw puzzles and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and she was a member of Tops, she was a 20-year Kops and she was a parishioner of Holy Family Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Joline Griffin and Rejeanne (Guy) Basselet, and one son, Dominique (Yvonne) Brooks; seven grandchildren, Angel (Raffe) Khazadian, Casey Brooks, Jennifer Jo (AJ) Dufort, Amanda Delight, Travis “TJ” (Colleen) Gauthier, Brooks (Amanda) Basselet and Hunter (Abbe) Basselet; 15 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Henry (Rita) Brooks.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Ronald Charpentier; her son-in-law, Brett Lindsey Griffin; sister-in-law, Leona “Sis” Paradis; her brother-in-law, Louis Brooks.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Dolores’ life will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
