On Wednesday, NV Energy CEO Brandon Barkhuff sent an email to the company’s customers, including me, saying they’ve decided to postpone their “Daily Demand” scheme until Oct. 1. The email goes on to claim this is not a new cost, because it’s included now in the usage charge, and “Daily Demand” will just break it out on the bill. If that’s the case, why bother?
The general perception is NV Energy’s new “Daily Demand” pricing is just another version of the casinos’ “dynamic pricing.” In other words, a rip-off. A kilowatt hour is a kilowatt hour, regardless of the time of day.
Let’s be honest. NV Energy doesn’t need more time to put lipstick on this pig. It needs to abandon this blatantly ill-timed and ill-conceived mistake.
