Northern Light Health’s Waterville walk-in clinic to close this month

Northern Light Health’s Waterville walk-in clinic will close Nov. 14, instead of the end of the year.

After the health system closed Inland Hospital in Waterville in June, the clinic remained open to serve patients needing non-emergency care. In September, Northern Light said the walk-in clinic would close at the end of the year.

Last week, Northern Light announced it was moving up the closure date to Nov. 14 “due to sharply declining volumes.”

According to a Northern Light news release on Oct. 31, the walk-in clinic “was kept open to serve as an important bridge for area patients.”

“That transition has been successful, as patient volumes at the Waterville walk-in care clinic have steadily declined with individuals and families establishing ongoing relationships with other providers in the community,” according to the news release.

In addition to Inland Hospital and the walk-in clinic closing, central Maine primary care practices operated by Northern Light and Central Maine Healthcare closed this year.
