NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A faith-based nonprofit focused on keeping children with their families and out of foster care will host a job fair in April in Noblesville.
Better Together’s job fair will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. April 14 at Genesis Church, 1702 Pleasant St. A news release issued Thursday from Fort Myers, Florida-based Priority Marketing said the event will be for job seekers facing significant barriers to employment such as past incarceration, homelessness, a lack of transportation, or unreliable child care.
The “background-friendly” job fair is part of the Nationwide Days of Second Chances, an initiative held throughout April to coincide with Second Chance Month, the release said. This year marks the sixth consecutive year the organization has hosted the series.
The release said, “Each year, over 600,000 Americans leave prison with no job or community. For job seekers attempting to re-enter the workforce, achieving financial stability may feel nearly impossible. Two-thirds lose hope and return to jail. During Nationwide Days of Second Chances, nearly all job seekers leave with hope in their hearts as the Better Jobs model encourages a celebration of their wins. Upon receiving a job offer or interview, candidates ring the opportunity bell, a sound that is soon followed by a room filled with joy.”
Florida-based Better Together began in 1992. Megan Rose serves as the chief executive officer.
