The Lobos made a big statement with a generational win Saturday.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Many expected the New Mexico Lobo football team to dominate Mercyhurst but few expected the generational domination they had Saturday.
The Lobos had a historic performance Saturday against Mercyhurst. It was a slow start, only scoring one touchdown in the first quarter before scoring 42 points in the second quarter.
Ultimately, the Cherry and Silver scored 63 straight points to win 70-7. That’s the largest margin of victory in 18 years for UNM. It’s tied for the fifth-largest margin in the last 80 years. The 70 points is the fifth-most the team has scored in the last 80 years.
