LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A new independent candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Nebraska’s 3rd District was announced today. Mark Cohen submitted signature to the Nebraska Secretary of State in order to possibly appear on the ballot. He collected nearly 4,000 votes, almost twice the required amount.
Cohen said the volunteers made this happen.
“This is a huge first step,” said Cohen, “and we did it because we have great volunteers, from Chadron to Nebraska City, from the panhandle to the Missouri River. We’ve been at a lot of events, from county fairs to town halls and forums, working to listen to Nebraskans, get the word out, and gather signatures. Now the real work begins.”
Cohen is a former Air Force Judge Advocate and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for Nebraska. He came to Nebraska over 40 years ago.
