EL PASO, TX — The final match of the regular season is here for the New Mexico United and on Saturday, it’s probably the biggest one of the season this far.
They travel to play the El Paso Locomotive. The stakes of this match are big, because the winner will be the Western Conference Champions and earn the number one seed heading into the USL Championship Playoffs.
Head Coach Dennis Sanchez said the message to his team this week doesn’t change.
“Making sure that we’re outworking opponents. So more than anything. And I said to these guys before the San Antonio game, they’re not going to hear anything different over the next five weeks. If anything, it’s more reminders. Things to improve, things to exploit with our opponent. But, we’re treating it like a normal week, which is, based off the centers that we created throughout the season,” Sanchez said.
Now this will be the fourth match these two have played against one another this season.
The last time these two played was back on Jul. 11 in El Paso when the United won 2-0. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. and wil be airing on ESPN+.
