WINDSOR — An additional arrest has been made in a 2023 missing person and murder investigation involving 39-year-old John Belote, who was discovered in a shallow grave near Windsor in July of that year.
Belote had missing since late June 2023. An autopsy determined that he died of gunshot wounds.
On March 24, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Samuel Wade Wilson, 39, of Windsor. He has been charged with murder.
According to warrants, Wilson along with Thomas Guinn and Michael Dewayne Williams killed Belote by shooting him with a firearm, hitting him with a car and then shooting him with a firearm again. The incident took place on June 28, 2023, at an abandoned church on Spring Branch Road.
Wilson is currently booked at the Aiken County Detention Center
