MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Officials with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office took to social media over the Halloween weekend to warn the public after reports of needles being found in candy that had been sealed in its wrapper.
Deputies wrote that they’d initially been dispatched when a family found a needle in a wrapped Twizzlers package when they got home from trick-or-treating in the area of Highway 1016 in Berea.

Then, on Nov. 1, a second report of needles discovered in a wrapped Almond Joy bar came from a family after they’d collected candy in the Boone Way, Derby Chase, and Saratoga Circle neighborhoods in Richmond.
Staff at the MCSO urged parents and guardians to carefully inspect all Halloween candy before allowing children to consume it.
Anyone who has found sharp metal objects in their candy or may know where it came from has been asked to call the sheriff’s office at (859) 623-1511.
The candy tampering investigation remains ongoing.
