BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Nectar’s, which announced it was closing for the summer, is having their last few shows during Burlington’s Discover Jazz Festival.
The place was packed tonight for the second day in a row. Regulars, music enthusiasts, and neighbors were pouring one out for the 50-year-old venue as bands performed what felt like swan songs. For many, these are emotional nights reflecting on what Nectar’s means to them. For others, they’re just excited to be there while they can.
“Nectar’s is like why I’m a musician in Burlington. It’s a huge part of my journey in this town, and I know it’s probably the same for a lot of other musicians,” said Dobbs’ Dead singer Jess Leone.
“There has been a little bit of an increase since they said they were closing, because I think this is such a staple for the community. I think people are here just to support it, and will support it, maybe, if it comes back,” said Burlington resident Ari Moskowitz.
The last chance to see a Nectar’s show for the foreseeable future is Saturday, June 7th.
