LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska defensive back DeShon Singleton earned a pair of honors on Monday.

Singleton was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and was recognized as the East-West Shrine Bowl’s “Breakout Defensive Player of the Week.”

In Nebraska’s 38-27 win over Michigan State, Singleton racked up six tackles and hauled in two interceptions.

The two picks were a career high for the senior defensive back, and the first time a Husker had multiple interceptions in a game since 2023.

Singleton has anchored a Husker pass defense that leads the nation in pass efficiency defense (80.55) and passing yards allowed per game (91.8).

The Huskers also rank fourth in total defense (247.4 ypg).

The East-West Shrine Bowl award recognizes and all-star game eligible defensive player that displayed the most NFL traits that week.

Singleton enters the game against Maryland with 23 total tackles to rank second on the team.

The Huskers will take on the Terrapins on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in College Park. You can watch the game on the Big Ten Network.
