NC-210 closed after woman dies in single-vehicle crash in Fayetteville, officials say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A person has died and a road is closed while emergency crews work to clear up a serious crash in Fayetteville.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, first responders rushed to a motor vehicle crash around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday on N.C. 210/N.C. 53, also known as Cedar Creek Road, just off of Grove Street.

Upon arrival, they located one car and the guardrail next to it, both heavily damaged just after the train tracks.

The Fayetteville Police Department confirmed with CBS 17 that the woman who drove the vehicle died as a result of the crash. The identity of the person is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

CBS 17 was on the scene where crews were gathering evidence and investigating the circumstances around the crash.

So far, police have determined in their investigation that speed was a factor in this crash where the woman reportedly hit a tree in the median while traveling from Grove Street, which caused her to overturn and hit a guardrail.

NC DOT estimates that NC-210/NC-53/Cedar Creek Road will reopen around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
