Nathan Earl Triebold was born August 3, 1989, in Valley City, North Dakota. Nathan had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and felt most at home in nature. He hoped someday to find his own place in Montana and live in the mountains. He had a keen eye for the world around him and could identify a bird by its call, name a fish with a glance, or share facts about wildlife without hesitation. Fishing and shooting were among his greatest passions, but he also enjoyed hiking, drawing, cooking, shed hunting, and learning about history. He had a deep love for animals, especially his cats Theo, Grizzly, and Jenny. It is comforting to know they are now together. Nathan found a sense of belonging when he began working at Ave Maria, and often said he had finally found where he belonged. He valued the friendships he formed there and the purpose it gave him.

He is survived by his father, LeRoy Triebold; mother and stepfather, Tena and Steve Pederson; sister and brother-in-law, Tara and Jay Praska; brother, Matthew Triebold; nieces and nephews, Luke, Elijah, Samuel and Josephine Praska; Bentley, Amelia, Jack, and Rhett Triebold; stepbrother, Zach Pederson; stepsister, Ashley McGeehan; grandmother, Ruth Triebold; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coworkers, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vernon Triebold, his grandparents, Earl and Beverly Eggert, Aunt Linda Eggert, Uncle Jack Eggert and Aunt JaNae Eggert.
We are so heartbroken by his loss, but grateful for the time we shared with him. Nathan’s quiet strength, gentle nature, love for animals, and appreciation for God’s creation will be remembered by all who knew him. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” — Dr. Seuss
