WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) — Mystic Aquarium released six grey seals into the waters of Westerly Wednesday morning.

The seals were rescued on Block Island after being found entangled in fishing gear and marine debris in March and April.

Mystic Aquarium said there has been a “sharp increase in entanglements” in New England, citing the 24 seals rescued by the Animal Rescue Program since the start of 2025.
