A motorcyclist died in a Friday night Government Hill hit-and-run, Anchorage police said.

Officers were called to North Post Road between Sitka and Wrangell streets at about 9:15 p.m. for a collision between a Jeep Cherokee and motorcycle, the Anchorage Police Department said in a statement.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Jeep fled in a different vehicle, according to police.

An Anchorage police spokesperson, in response to questions seeking additional information on Saturday morning, wasn’t immediately able to provide more information.
