RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Rain from Monday’s storms caused flooding all across the triangle, leading to car crashes and even roads being shut down.

Raleigh resident Brian Hedges had to have his car towed after trying to drive through what looked like a foot of water.

“I thought it wasn’t that bad but then I went through it. My car stalled out shortly after,” Hedges said.

Several roads including a portion of Capital Boulevard were closed early Monday evening, and nearby businesses took a hit during the temporary halt. One bartender at Tapyard said most of their customers take Capital Boulevard to get there, and temporary flooding always has an impact.

“We actually had an event that got postponed because of the flooding. We were supposed to have a fifty-person event here,” said Brittany Mikelic.

Mikelic said a Monday night can bring up to 200 people, but she can expect less than half of that on days like this.

“It’s been kind a of bummer because Mondays are usually a great day at Tapyard. We are taking a hit, but we are wishing everyone safe out there.”

We are expecting more rain this week and officers stress that you do not drive through flood waters. They ask you to check for alternate routes before starting any commute.
