MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Senator Chris Rose (R-WV, District 2) has reveled more details about his legislation for the West Virginia Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In a post to Facebook on Saturday, Sen. Rose explained what exactly the West Virginia DOGE would do for the state, which he summarized as “a temporary joint commission to cut waste, boost efficiency, and streamline state ops.” with “No new taxpayer dollars spent!”

The Facebook post also provides more specific details, including:
- Composed of 3 Senators, 3 Delegates, & 5 private sector professionals (business leaders with proven efficiency records, nominated by the Governor & confirmed by legislators).
- Volunteers only – zero funding appropriated.
- Powers: Audit agencies, review programs, recommend reforms.
- Agencies MUST cooperate or risk losing next year’s funding.
- Sunsets in 18 months with reports to the Governor& Legislature.
The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency was created by President Donald Trump in January and led to the termination of thousands of federal jobs in the U.S. including in West Virginia, although many of those jobs have been reinstated.
The department has saved an estimated $206 billion in combined assets from reductions, including grant cancellations and workforce reductions according to the U.S. DOGE website.
